Across Mobile County, 90,000 households are forced to spend more than 30% of their income on housing, leaving them vulnerable to financial hardship.

Thank you to the many who drop off clothes, supplies and holiday gifts and to those who offer support in a myriad of other ways.  Thanks to many more who give their time to transform lives.

In the early 2000s, Mobile's Homeless Coalition spearheaded the formation of an emergency housing resource for families. They brought the idea of a community-based approach to Government Street Presbyterian Church who, subsequently, gave a two year grant to fuel the project.  The Interfaith Hospitality Network (later renamed Family Promise of Coastal Alabama) became a reality in South Alabama in the summer of 2003. In response to the needs of our community, we added affordable housing services in 2015.

We are an affiliate of the national organization,Family Promise. Being part of a national organization allows our agency to take advantage of national research, programs, training and other resources that help further our work.

We are here because we believe every family deserves a home.  Every community can make that happen.

Our Staff

Every member is dedicated to helping families escape poverty and homelessness.

In areas where housing costs are high, some families with low income are forced into sub-standard living conditions such as housing with no kitchen or plumbing or that is structurally unsound.

When a family who can barely afford rent suffers a set back - a car breaks down, someone gets sick or someone loses their job - they could end up with no home at all.

Life without a home is a life without basic necessities, safety or much hope for the future.

Our Partners

Family Promise of Coastal Alabama helps local leadership tailor solutions that meet our community's needs.

Thank you to our dedicated Board members. They are proactive agents of change.

Who We Are

The mission of Family Promise of Coastal Alabama is to provide temporary shelter, related services and nurturing support to families as they work to achieve and sustain independence.
